    The NALAS Task Force on Sustainable Tourism is an emerging task force aimed to encourage tourism development in South East Europe based on sustainability principles. The role of the Task Force is to promote tourism policy, governance and operations that respect and protect the environment and biodiversity and foster social inclusion, while creating employment and income earning opportunities and contributing to socio-economic growth. This Task Force is hosted by the Association of Municipalities and Cities of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

    Mayor_Pristina The NALAS Task Force on Energy Efficiency addresses the increasing issues with energy in South East Europe. As energy efficiency is an interdisciplinary field, this task brings together energy experts, municipal energy managers, mayors and other professionals who contribute together in mitigating the energy problems by proposing changes in the legislation, collecting best practices, encouraging better use of the available energy and employing renewable sources of energy.

    SS10abc From 15 until 18 July 2014, in Ohrid, Macedonia, NALAS organized one of its most exciting events for 2014, the first Summer School on Local Governance and Intergovernmental Fiscal Relations. Some 30 participants took part in the Summer School and learned how to maintain and use large data sets of municipal revenue and expenditure data to conduct sophisticated analyses of their intergovernmental finance systems. The Summer School included two days of hands on training, and a conference, which discussed the key challenges in fiscal decentralization. This was a truly exciting event.

    Summer School Broch NALAS is working on the final preparations for a new exciting event! From 14 to 18 July 2014, at the lovely Ohrid Lake in Macedonia we will organize NALAS’ first Summer School on Local Governance and Intergovernmental Fiscal Relations. At the school participants will learn how to maintain and use large data sets of municipal revenue and expenditure data to conduct sophisticated analyses of their intergovernmental finance systems. We will also discuss with renowned guest speakers and the leadership of local government associations how intergovernmental fiscal analysis can be used to engage national governments in concrete discussions of reform. Renowned guest speakers and instructors, small-group setting, and individual exercises, and incredible nature and cultural heritage of Ohrid will create an exciting environment for learning and exchange.
