Today, a two-day regional training organised by NALAS, within the Regional Capacity Development Network for Water and Sanitation Services (RCDN) kicked off in Bar, Montenegro, aimed at boosting the effectiveness of the LGAs’ water and sanitation sector committees. The event gathered representatives from RCDN partner LGAs’ executive offices and representatives of their sectoral committees, coming from local governments.
The training brings together LGA representatives to exchange experiences and build a foundation for long-term impact in water and sanitation services. As local governments and their associations play a significant role in shaping water sector policies, this training provides an opportunity for sharing innovative practices, networking, and approaches to tackle challenges in public service delivery.
The training aims to provide LGA representatives with practices and strategies for structuring committees, developing policies, advocating effectively, and enhancing capacity development and knowledge sharing. Over these two days, participants will engage in sessions that highlight practices from Slovenia and Bulgaria in committee structuring and management, their tasks and responsibilities, and tools for monitoring committee performance.
“This training provides LGAs with the knowledge needed to address critical issues in public service delivery within the water and sanitation sector, by refining their approach to sectoral committees”, said Mr. Milo Markoč, Vice-President of the Committee for Communal and Environmental Affairs of the Union of Municipalities of Montenegro.
The training is delivered by Ms. Barbara Horvat from the Association of Municipalities and Towns of Slovenia (SOS) and Ms. Marusia Tsvetkova from the National Association of Municipalities of the Republic of Bulgaria (NAMRB).
