Bar, Montenegro – April 18 2024 – It is with great pleasure and anticipation that we extend our invitation to you to join us for the XIX NALAS General Assembly & Launching of the Covenant of Mayors for Energy and Climate SEE. The event is scheduled to take place on the 18th and 19th of April 2024 in the city of Bar, Montenegro.

This occasion marks the inauguration of the Covenant of Mayors (CoM) for Energy and Climate SEE office, and boasts a comprehensive agenda that holds paramount significance for cities and municipalities across the region.

As frontline actors in combating the challenges posed by climate change, local self-governments play a pivotal role in implementing policies and solutions to mitigate its effects. Recognizing their significant responsibilities, local self-governments possess the potential to make substantial contributions towards achieving the objectives outlined in the Green Agenda.

Furthermore, during this gathering, we will present the Green Agenda Champions Recognition Awards, honoring the exceptional efforts of local self-governments in promoting the Green Agenda across the region.

Bringing together representatives from local self-governments, ministries, international development partners, and other relevant stakeholders, the event will mark the inauguration of the CoM Office for SEE. This office aims to support municipalities in developing and implementing action plans to reduce greenhouse gas emissions, enhance energy efficiency, and increase the use of renewable energy sources.
