European Climate Conference in Rovigo, 2-4 April 2008
“Small and medium sized communities are called on to vigorously engage in climate protection, and build on Local Renewables best practice. It is time for radical change.”
This is the main message from the European Climate Conference “Climate protection and Renewable Energy: Medium and Small Communities facing the challenge” held in Rovigo, Italy during 2 - 4 April 2008. The NALAS Task Force on Energy Efficiency was represented at the conference by Ms Ada Ilia from the Association of Albanian Municipalities and Mr Sazan Ibrahimi from the Association of Kosovo Municipalities.
Local decision-makers have a critical opportunity, and a responsibility, to address mitigation at a community level. They also need to address the impacts of climate change, assess what this means for their communities and develop adaptation actions, to improve the resilience of their communities.
