The NALAS Task Force on Energy Efficiency addresses the increasing issues with energy in South East Europe. As energy efficiency is an interdisciplinary field, this task brings together energy experts, municipal energy managers, mayors and other professionals who contribute together in mitigating the energy problems by proposing changes in the legislation, collecting best practices, encouraging better use of the available energy and employing renewable sources of energy.

  • Energy Efficiency Task Force Meeting in Tirana, 6 March 2010 06.03.2010

    NALAS Task Force on Energy Efficiency met in Tirana, Albania, on the 6 March 2010. The meeting was devoted to the TF EE strategic planning based on the sum-ups of the Survey “Energy Efficiency Measures in South-East European Municipalities and the Role of National Associations and NALAS”. The group achieved the meeting’s overall subjective to plan short-, mid- and long term. A project idea Think Globally Develop Locally for tackling climate change was presented to the TF EE by Ms. Clare Romanik of UNDP, the TF EE communicated the idea with the LGAs and CLO executive decision on its further implementation is expected.

  • Energy Efficiency Task Force Meeting in Prishtina, 26 January 2010 26.01.2010

    Project Survey “Energy Efficiency Measures in South-East European Municipalities and the Role of National Associations and NALAS” started on the 26th of January 2010. The Briefing meeting for the experts implementing the Survey was held on the 4-5th March in Prishtina. Instructions on implementing the Survey were given in order to provide best quality of the Project results.

  • Energy Efficiency Task Force Meeting in Skopje, 1 December 2009 01.12.2009

    NALAS Task Force on Energy Efficiency met in the capital of the Republic of Macedonia Skopje on the 1st of December 2009. It was the third and the last for the year 2009 meeting and it gathered in total 12 participants, including one new member of the Task Force – the representative of the association of the Republic of Croatia. The main topic for discussions of the meeting was the proposed by the ORF-E Survey “Energy Efficiency Measures in South- East European Municipalities and the Role of National Associations and NALAS”. Meeting was about exchanging opinions and looking at the energy efficiency measures and planning processes in the NALAS member states from different perspectives. Central point of the discussions was involvement of the member associations in the proposed Survey.

  • Climate Neutral Cities Forum 23.09.2009

    “Climate Neutral Cities” was the title of the international forum held in Geneva from the 23rd to the 25th of September, 2009. The forum was organized by the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE). The motivation behind the forum was the significant potential available for reducing housing related greenhouse gas emissions across Europe, but also the accrued benefits of improved comfort, employment opportunities and fuel security of supply that can arise. Guest speakers examined the multidimensional approach of “Climate Neutral Cities”.

  • Energy Community 9th Task Force on Energy Efficiency Meeting 28.06.2009

    NALAS participated in the Energy Community 9th Task Force on Energy Efficiency Meeting in Vienna on the 28th June. There was presented the full volume of the Survey “Energy Efficiency Measures in South-East European Municipalities and the Role of National Associations and NALAS” and the Covenant of Mayors in Western Balkans Sofia Declaration. As a result from the meeting, was recommended further, stronger cooperation between NALAS and Energy Community. A meeting of the Executive Directors was appointed to take place in the third quarter of 2010. Energy Community will support the initiative to extend Covenant of Mayors to IPA countries, and Energy Community Task Force members were invited to support it as it could be a very important step for fully involvement of the SEE local authorities in the promotion of energy efficiency (these decision were reflected in the official minutes from the meeting).

  • 20th Session of the Steering Committee of the Energy Efficiency 21 Project 03.06.2009

    wwww The Energy Efficiency 21 project is a region-wide project to enhance trade and co-operation in energy efficient, environmentally-sound techniques and management practices. It is the successor of the Energy Efficiency 2000 Project that was launched in 1991 and is guided and monitored by a Steering Committee composed of delegates from national participating ministries and institutions, international organizations and donor agencies. This Steering Committee gathered at the UN Palais des Nations between 3 and 5 of June 2009 and discuss the progress of the current activities and the development of future project.

    ecnc The first Steering Committee’s Meeting of the Project “Biodiversity and Ecosystem Services for Local Sustainable Development in the Western Balkans” was held on 18 May 2009 in Belgrade, Serbia. The project will be implemented by European Center for Nature Conservation in cooperation with Regional Environmental Center and its offices in Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Macedonia, Serbia and Kosovo. NALAS was represented at this meeting by Ms Sanja Zivkovic.

  • First UNECE Workshop on Energy Efficiency in Housing, 21-22 April 2009 in Sofia 21.04.2009

    logo_housing The First Workshop on Energy Efficiency in Housing was organized to review and discuss challenges and opportunities for the ECE region in order to identify necessary policy measures, as well as to provide UNECE member States with policy guidance and suggestions on how to increase energy efficiency in the housing sector. The Workshop reviewed the economic, social and environmental impacts of energy efficiency in housing, considered current policies, solutions and barriers to effective policies, and discussed priorities that need to be addressed by international and national governments. NALAS was represented at this workshop by Mr Petar Gvero, member of the NALAS Task Force on Energy Efficiency.

  • Energy Efficiency Measures in South-East European Municipalities and The Role of National Associations and NALAS 24.03.2009

    eemeasures A network-wide assessment of the needs and potentials for joint activities of the member associations promoting Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy at the local level has been compiled within the framework of a NALAS study. A total of 13 member associations from Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Romania, Serbia, Slovenia and Turkey participated in the study group, which was working under the auspices of the NALAS Task Force on Energy Efficiency.
